Actor, educator, and singer, Caden Cole believes that emotional expression through music gives the musician the ability to explore the profound beauty of life and connect individuals on an intense emotional level that transcends what is possible with language alone.
As a singer, Cole is a Chicago-based lyric baritone. In operatic repertoire, Cole has most recently performed the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Sid in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring. In concert, Cole has also performed as a soloist for many choral masterworks including Vivaldi’s Gloria, Leopold Mozart’s Mass in A, and covering the baritone solo for Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. In song repertoire, Cole has presented Ralph Vaughan William’s song cycle The House of Life which uses the text of Dante Gabriel Rosetti’s collection of poems by the same name. Before moving to Chicago, Cole was a member of the premier chamber choir of western Kentucky, the Paducah Singers.
As an educator, Cole received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from Southern Illinois University. He firmly believes that teaching literacy, close reading, and critical thinking through music can give students the tools to succeed in and outside of music. Cole is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
Outside of classical music, Cole has performed as a lead guitarist in cover bands, recorded and performed an album of original music, and was a founding member of the comedy barbershop quartet Four in the Morning. Outside of music, Cole worked as a radio DJ and reporter for WJBD Radio in Salem, Illinois.
